FAQ - ‘BEFORE YOU TOUR’
How to book a tour? Can I book for a larger group? / What's the biggest # of people I can book for?
STANDARD GROUP TOURS - Book our standard group tickets via the ‘Book your ticket now'!’ button at top right. Standard tour tickets are capped at a single group size of 16 guests.
PRIVATE BESPOKE TOURS - Or contact us directly at bookings@authenticrevolutionarybostontours.com to arrange your one-on-one private tour. We're eager to hear your story, and what we can show you in historic Boston!
LARGER GROUP TOURS - For larger groups (school, reunion, corporate, club, church, etc) requiring more than one guide, discounted rates may apply. Please contact us directly at bookings@authenticrevolutionarybostontours.com to make a custom booking!
Where do tours meet/start?
Ticketed public group tours meet on the stone plaza outside the Boston Common Visitors Center, located at 139 Tremont St, Boston MA 02111.
Private or larger group bookings are available to meet anywhere in downtown Boston most convenient for guests, their accommodations and any special needs or interests, as communicated to their specific tour guide.
How much of the Freedom Trail/what will I see? How long are tours?
Depending on city construction, specific audience interests, weather, and walking speed, our 90 minute walking programs typically cover 2/3 of the Freedom Trail. However, this includes hidden historic gems not on the 'official' Trail itself! Our guides are highly adaptable and we will seek to show you not only the famous sites you may have heard of, but also lesser-known treasures that’ll surprise and engage you even more - and that are less crowded!
Is the freedom trail wheelchair accessible?
Historic structures and spaces are unfortunately not always ADA compliant, but our guides will do their utmost to make sure guests with limited mobility or wheelchairs do not miss out on any aspect of the experience.
Do tours happen rain or shine? Year round? What about extreme weather?
Tours happen regardless of weather, and can be booked at any time of year depending on our team's availability. Our guides will do our best to keep you out of the worst of the elements, but please dress prudently.
Will we be going into any buildings?
There is unfortunately no single ticket pass to the Freedom Trail, so the tour does not enter any privately owned historic structures, due to limited space and time. However, guests are welcome to return and buy separate tickets to visit specific museums and sites in the city at their leisure. Our guides can also make expert recommendations based on any specific interests or projects you may have in visiting the city!
Any public health policies in place?
Our company seeks to keep everyone safe, and will continually monitor rates of transmissible illness in the city. Our guides reserve the right to ask guests to wear face coverings for the duration of the tour, and may ask guests to leave without refund if they judge they are acting irresponsibly to either the guide or the rest of the tour group.
What's your cancellation policy?
All custom sales arranged over email are final and nonrefundable. We will do our utmost to make sure that our team meets your logistical and creative needs when visiting the city, and bookings may be transferred, depending on staffing.
Can any of your guides give tours in languages besides English?
Depending on staff availability and scheduling, we can currently offer customized French language tours too!
Can I bring my (non-service animal) dog?
Due to legal concerns and the wellbeing of other guests, fully vaccinated, well trained dogs and any other mobile pets are welcome only on any of our PRIVATE tour booking.
Is tipping expected? What's the norm for tipping amount?
Our team are professional hard-working independent historians and will happily accept generous tips of any amount in cash, gift cards, precious stones, lumber or animal pelts.
